Double Exposure / Trade Roll
Shoot a roll of film in which you purposefully compose and underexpose the roll. Trade your roll with another individual from the class and re-shoot the roll as if it were your own. For better effects outline to compositional elements of your roll and a generalized topic so that the other individual can make informed artistic decisions while still being surprised by the results J
Shooting Requirements:
(PART 1)
· Load your roll of film and score the shiny side of the film to indicate where you started the first image; mark it BEFORE you close the back of the camera and advance to the first frame on the roll.
· Shoot your roll compositionally as you normally would but keep note of the compositional effects, orientation of your camera and subject matter that dominate your style of shooting.
· UNDEREXPOSE each shot you take on the roll by 1 full stop. You can adjust the exposure by using the aperture (which will change your depth of field) or with the shutter. Meter correctly first, then decide which fits your situation the best before taking the shot.
· Log your roll by answering the questions below and type it up to go with your roll.
(PART 2)
· Reload the film into a new canister or pull out the leader tab from the film.
· Load the previously shot roll to the location that was marked by the individual before you.
· Pay attention to their compositional notes and be sure to UNDEREXPOSE each shot as you did in part 1.
· Double expose your own style of imagery over their shots and see what happens J
