Photocubism “Montage” _ "how to's" for shooting...
- Choose a space that is meaningful to you for an abstracted photocubism montage.
- Start out in one position, take at least 10 shots (not moving your feet, only rotate in place)
- Move around the space taking shots from slightly different angels to distort space. (vertical, horizontal, diagonals) for added interest and contrast.
- Move your camera/viewpoint up and down. Try not to shoot straight across the scene.
- Try zooming in and out while shooting the panoramic – your images will not line up, but this may be exactly what you want to abstract your scale or space.
- Compose each picture of the panoramic so there is approximately 1/6th to 1/4th of the frame overlapping from image to image. Use an object within the frame as a reference for over lapping – be sure to include that object into the next frame on the opposite side of the picture.
- Shoot 1 scene per 36 exposure roll of film. This may not give you fully what you want or need, but be adventurous and creative. Don’t be afraid to shoot more! Better to have more than you need than not enough.
